We’ve had a fabulous start to Year Six in 6R (Rowan Class) and the first two weeks have flown by!
We’ve been carefully studying the book ‘The Island’ by Armin Greder; in the story an island, cut off from the rest of the world, receives a new visitor. We’ve been looking at different reactions from the locals to the visitor and trying to describe and explain their behaviour.
In computing we’ve been learning about E-Safety through Google’s ‘Interlands’ project. Keep encouraging the children to do this at home and work towards their ‘Legend’ certificate (link here).
Bikeability has been taking place throughout the week and the children have been displaying safe riding behaviour around the streets of Croxley Green – perhaps you saw them around and about?
One child decided to spend their Golden Time being creative and built a new fan from scratch! Perhaps Mr Hyde could use it on his desk now the weather is warmer again?
Finally, we took a risk and had a go at using a green screen to bring our project about the plight of the rhino to life. It was great fun performing in front of it and we’ll definitely have another go soon!
What can parents do now?
Ask us about our class story (There’s a Boy in the Girls Bathroom)! Ask us about ‘The Island’ from our English lessons! Ask us about Handball (we’ve been learning the rules this week!). Ask us about rounding in maths – we’ve just started this topic and want to hit the ground running on Monday!
